Jets and Dolphins contend for Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill

The New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are in talks to acquire star wide receiver Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs. Sources tell ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Chiefs have given Hill permission to pursue a trade amid stalled contract extension talks, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

The 28-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and is expected to earn over $18 million in 2022.

Hill has been the turbo of Kansas City’s successful offense since 2017. The Speedster has just come off its fourth 1,000-yard season in five years. He caught 111 passes for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns last season.

A trade from Hill would send further shockwaves through the AFC West, which has brought numerous star players to the division since free agency opened.

The Chiefs, whose offense has had six straight Divisional wins and one Super Bowl win, would need tight end Travis Kelce and free agent JuJu Smith-Schuster to bolster their corps of receivers in the event of a Hill transfer.

Kansas City will reportedly meet with free agent receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling Wednesday.
