A 17-year-old boy, whose identity was not released because he was a minor, was arrested on Thursday followingnoon by members of the Colón Departmental Unit of the Córdoba Police. The measure was ordered by the investigating prosecutor of Dean Funes, Fabiana Pochettino, within the framework of the investigation that is being carried out into the death of Agustín Ávila (16), which occurred on January 8.
Despite being an imputable person under the current criminal regime, the young person will have special treatment because he is a minor, so it is likely that he will be detained in one of the units dependent on the Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Family (Senaf), something that has not yet been confirmed by the police authorities.
The young man is charged with co-perpetrator of homicide, a crime that is punishable by the same penalty as the perpetrator of homicide, imprisonment from 8 to 25 years. However, for days, the legal representation of the family, in charge of Dr. Carlos Nayi, has requested that the cover of the case be homicide aggravated by treachery, a framework that might raise the sentence to life imprisonment.
With this arrest, there are already six young people in pretrial detention for the death of Agustín Ávila.
