“Jersey Boys”, a jukebox musical that traces the life story of the band “Four Seasons”, which is characterized by successes and setbacks, attracted 10,764 guests to the Pölz Hall. There were a total of 18 performances and one can look forward to a fantastic occupancy rate of 98.7 percent.
“I reckoned with 9,000 guests, hoping for a five-digit result, it turned out to be 10,764. It is a sensational result. Many of the visitors were very enthusiastic regarding the production, some even spoke of the best production in recent years and we received a lot of praise and recognition. For us, that is the best confirmation of our work,” says producer Christoph Heigl. “Nobody expected that. A huge success for a relatively unknown piece,” he adds.
“Convincing performance of the ensemble”
Intendant Alex Balga is also very happy and relieved regarding the good results and the many positive feedbacks. With a remarkable effort by the entire team, the courage for this musical and the powerful work finally paid off.
“The collaboration with the artistic director and director Balga, who will be part of the party once more next year, went very constructively,” says Heigl. The summer of musicals is exciting and calm.
Alex Balga also emphasizes the brilliant work with the ensemble. “The entire ensemble gave a convincing performance. It was just so full of energy and it acted on an international level. With this production, the musical summer in Amstetten might be further expanded as a hotspot on the map in the Lower Austrian festival summer”.
Mayor Christian Haberhauer attributes the great success of “Jersey Boys” first and foremost to the duo Balga and Heigl. “The colourful, highly emotional story and the catchy melodies really interested the audience. But what has come together here is the ideal team with the ideal piece”.
There is nothing to add. Perhaps a small statement from an enthusiastic visitor who came to Amstetten for the first time. “It was a wonderful evening, a great piece, I’m already looking forward to next year”.
