A political activity by the resident commissioner, Jenniffer González, carried out this Monday in Guaynabo was affected by a lack of electricity.

According to Las Noticias (TeleOnce), the power went out twice and González took advantage of the situation to once once more criticize LUMA Energy, the company in charge of the energy distribution system in the country.

“I’m used to having the power go out in Carolina once a week. But that is no different from what happens today, when the power coincidentally goes out in this activity. “This is the Puerto Rico that I want to change,” said the gubernatorial candidate for the New Progressive Party (PNP).

Although in her message she criticized the work carried out by the company LUMA Energy, the commissioner did not answer whether she would cancel the contract of the company in charge of the transmission and distribution system of the country’s electrical system.

González reaffirmed his criticism of the company’s contract, however, he indicated that if he wins the 2024 elections his plans are to supervise the work of the consortium. According to the commissioner, the resident, the LUMA Energy contract is “leonine” and she criticized the constant blackouts on the island.

“I talked regarding how there has to be a real, daily inspection here and I believe that we have the government tools to carry out that inspection. “That contract is leonine, where it has no responsibility, where every week they say that they want to increase the electricity bill and do not improve the service, where there are weekly blackouts, that is the reality of the Puerto Rico that we have,” said the resident commissioner in an interview with Borinquen Radio (formerly WAPA Radio).

As she did in her message, the resident commissioner criticized the lack of oversight of the contract that the company has with the government of Puerto Rico as a Public Private Partnership.

“There is a contract that was made that was inherited by the governor, but there has to be an inspection and believe me, I am committed not only to carrying out the inspection, but also to providing the service they have to provide,” he added.

Last week, the resident commissioner made a message where she confirmed her political aspirations. In it, she criticized both the company and the government since according to her the funds have not been used to rebuild the electrical network following the impact of Hurricane María.

“LUMA has been a great disappointment for Puerto Rico and I reiterate it. Today we only talk regarding service interruptions and how much the electricity will increase. I raised the funds to rebuild the electrical system and 6 years later we have seen nothing. “Leadership is required to recognize mistakes and amend them immediately,” said Jenniffer González in his message.
