A Jennifer Lopez drag impersonator got the surprise of a lifetime this weekend, when the real-life superstar made a surprise appearance on stage.
While drag artist “Jo López” finished performing the song “Can’t Get Enough” by Jennifer López on Sunday, dressed in a replica of the wedding dress with heart-shaped cutouts from the Bronx Diva’s new music video, and blew kisses to the packed crowd at iconic West Hollywood gay bar The Abbey, the real J. Lo snuck up behind her impersonator.
After “Jo Lopez” screamed in shock, the two hugged each other and then Jennifer Lopez grabbed the microphone and brought David Cooley, the venue’s founder and CEO, onto the stage.
According to The Abbey, the celebrity was at the bar to celebrate the venue’s 33rd anniversary, honor Cooley’s advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community, and promote her new single, “Can’t Get Enough,” from her upcoming album, “This is Me …Now.”
The drag artist and the singer then changed into replicas of the famous blue and green Versace dress that the performer of Puerto Rican origin wore at the 2000 Grammy Awards ceremony.
