From now on, let’s take a look at the current situation in order of the regions in the path of the typhoon.
First of all, Jeju, which you saw a little while ago, is directly affected by the typhoon.
Let’s see what the situation is now.
We connect reporters who are out in Beophwanpo-gu, Seogwipo.
Reporter Kim Hang-seop, how is the situation now?
◀ reporter ▶
Yes, as the typhoon approaches Jeju, heavy rain is falling nonstop.
Even with strong winds, it is difficult to open your eyes properly, and even an adult cannot stand properly.
The breakwater behind me is constantly crashing into large waves.
A typhoon warning has been issued for the entire Jeju island and all seas.
While maintaining a very strong force, the typhoon is expected to reach up to 130 km off Jeju Seogwipo and be closest to midnight today.
With a central pressure of 940 hPa, it is expected to be recorded as the strongest typhoon landing in Korea.
Due to the influence of the typhoon, since yesterday, heavy rain of over 550mm has been pouring down Hallasan Witse Oreum in Jeju, and all trails have been closed for the third day.
In addition, precipitation of 156 mm in Jeju City and 119 mm in Seogwipo is recorded.
Today, a maximum wind speed of 150 km/h was observed at Baengnokdam in Mt. Halla, and a wind of 124 km/h was also blown from Samgakbong Peak.

◀ reporter ▶
Yes, during the night when the typhoon approaches Jeju Island, a strong wind with a maximum wind speed of 215 kilometers per hour is expected. Since there is a high possibility of going there, the farmers and fishermen have worked hard all day to maintain the facilities, but they still feel uneasy.
There is also a concern regarding secondary accidents that lead to fires due to power outages in which wires are cut by strong winds.
Jeju has already experienced a heavy rain of more than 200mm in the western part of the country, and in many places, it is predicted that water bombs of up to 600mm will be poured on 400mm mountains in the future, causing flooding in the lowlands.
In particular, as the high tide time overlaps between this evening and the dawn of tomorrow, when the typhoon passes through Jeju, a storm surge advisory has been issued for the coastal lowlands. We urge you to refrain from moving until
