The bomb blast that took place in Kochi Kalamaseri this morning is an incident that shook the country. This is not the first time that those who have left the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses have attacked members of the congregation. Similar incidents have happened in many countries.
Last March, six people were killed in a shooting at a Jehovah’s Witnesses prayer hall in Germany. The shooting took place at a Jehovah’s Witnesses worship hall in the city of Hamburg. The attack was carried out by a 35-year-old German national who had left the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The firing was done with automatic pistols. A seven-month pregnant woman was also killed in the attack. After the incident, the accused surrendered to the police.
In 2022, the attack took place at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Thornton, USA. Enoch Apodaca, a former member of Jehovah’s Church, shot and killed his wife and himself at the Kingdom Hall. Before the murder, the accused had thrown small explosives inside the prayer hall through the window. The police informed that the day before the incident, the suspect said that he wanted to return to the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and would talk to the members regarding this.

In 2018, there were several attacks on Jehovah’s Witnesses’ places of worship in Washington. 50-year-old Mikey Diamond Starrett opened fire at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Yelm, Washington. In 2018 alone, there were five similar attacks in Washington. The attacks targeted the Orange Kingdom Hall in Tumwater, south of Olympia, the Kane Road Kingdom Hall in Olympia, and the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lacey.
