Jeff Panacloc was the guest of Frédéric Lopez on Sunday in the program “A Sunday in the countryside”, broadcast on France 2. The ventriloquist, whose real name is Damien Colcanap, cried while evoking painful childhood memories. Before becoming known, the comedian has indeed suffered a lot from the gaze of others, he who was “not popular”.

He wasn’t always so popular. Guest on the show Sunday in the countryside, on January 8 on France 2, Jeff Panacloc told Frédéric Lopez that he was a bit apart at school. The ventriloquist, whose real name is Damien Colcanap, “felt” not to be “very interesting”.

“It has not been easy every day”

“I was called ‘the little fat man on the crutch’ because I broke my leg a lot. I was a bit of a cassos on duty”, reveals the comedian, in tears. “I saw the others going to booms but I lived it quite a bit (…) and finally that’s why I’m here today, this success that I manage to itch. It wasn’t easy every day, I try to remember those more difficult times”.

“I separated from the mother of my children”

A 36 ans, Jeff Panacloc has managed to build a great career, which has exceeded all his expectations. He almost became an electrician. “Maybe one day I might hang projectors on TV sets, in the cinema or on the stages of shows”, he said to himself at the time. After many years of hardship, luck smiled on him. Damien Colcanap, who learned to be a ventriloquist, appears on a Michel Drucker show. His life changes completely. Even today, Jeff Panacloc finds it difficult to realize: “My loved ones tell me you don’t realize what you’re doing and I don’t think I actually realize. I was already crying ten years ago in thinking we did something crazy and in fact we continue to move forward, there are difficulties”, he assures.

The ventriloquist recently went through a difficult period: his separation from his wife Charlotte de Hugo, the mother of his two daughters, Rose and Alice. “I separated from the mother of my children. There have been many, many upheavals in my life. And when we find ourselves on stage, all that does not exist. I tell myself that in fact, we have all the same problems. We all have our own lives,” he concludes, visibly upset.
