A electric car with a range of 600 kilometers will complete the Jeep Avenger. Called Recon, this electric SUV is expected in 2024.

Jeep more often rhymes with large-displacement diesel engines than electric vehicles. However, this American manufacturer is gradually embarking on the electrification of its entire range, to comply with European Union regulations. Starting with its hybrid versions then with the launch of the Avenger.

A new long-range electric SUV

The Avenger is Jeep’s first fully electric car. However, it will be supplemented by a new version, given that the manufacturer plans to launch 4 zero-emission cars before 2025. As a result, a second version will soon be revealed.

Called Recon, a small presentation has already taken place in 2022. It is a High-performance and robust electric SUV, which is inspired by the Wrangler”, but in a lower segment. We can therefore expect more modest dimensions. Presented as the “reference for electric 4X4s”, this vehicle “can take the steepest tracks in the world”. Where it becomes more interesting is in terms of the autonomy of this Jeep electric car, it must be around 600 km. She will also benefit from a 600 hp engine.

Even more, a third electric version is being prepared. This is the Wagoneer S concept, presented in September 2022. The latter attempts to compete with the Range Rover Velar, and should have a range of approximately 650 kilometers. Furthermore, its battery might have a capacity of 118 kWh. With a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. So, we can expect the Recon EV to set the slopes on fire.

What will this electric car look like?

At an event organized by Stellantis, Jeep reportedly presented dealers with a version Moab 4xe du Recon. Several photos have been published on the Jeep Recon Forum.

This vehicle will provide “freedom in the open.” Jeep has confirmed that the doors and windows will be removable while the powertop will be accessible with a single gesture. In the concept and spy photos, the side mirrors are attached to the door, unlike the Ford Bronco.

Off-road equipment includes Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system, e-lock axles, underbody protection, tow hooks. In addition, judging by the photos, the all-terrain tires BFGoodrich complete the Jeep’s equipment.
