Jeddah’s rains.. A weather expert: What fell in 6 hours is equal to the rains of Riyadh in a full season

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Abdullah Al-Misnad, a former climate professor at Qassim University, explained the amount of rain that fell in Jeddah within 6 hours and compared it to the amount of rain that Riyadh receives during the entire season.

This came in a tweet by Al-Misnad on his official Twitter page, where he said: “The heavy amounts of rain falling on Jeddah this morning (Thursday), especially its south, amounted to 169 mm‼️ from 8 am to 2 pm, according to meteorology, and this means that the rain that Riyadh receives in the entire season It rained in Jeddah within 6 hours only‼️, and this is an amount that many international cities flood.

The National Observatory of Meteorology had stated that the highest amount of rain recorded in Jeddah amounted to 179 mm, exceeding the amount of rain recorded in 2009.

The Saudi Press Agency reported moderate to heavy thunderstorms, preceded by active winds, on: Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, Tabuk, the northern borders, Hail and Al-Qassim, and rainy thunderclouds in Jizan, Asir, Al-Baha and the eastern region.
