Jeddah: The Saudi Cabinet formed the Development Authority with the aim of making Jeddah the best city in the world. The existing ‘Jeddah Governorate Project Management Office’ will be transformed into a Development Authority. The decision in this regard was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by King Salman at the Al Salam Palace in Jeddah on Tuesday. The Authority’s Board of Directors is chaired by Crown Prince Amir Mohammed bin Salman.
Makkah Governor, Makkah Deputy Governor, Culture Minister, Jeddah Governor, Commerce Minister, Tourism Minister, Public Investment Fund Governor, Eng. The cabinet also decided to appoint Ibrahim Bin Muhammad Al-Sultan and the Mayor of Jeddah as members of the authority. Makkah Governor, Deputy Governor and Jeddah Mayor thanked King Salman and Crown Prince for the decision to establish Jeddah Development Authority.
Makkah Governor Amir Khalid Al-Faisal said that the order to change the Jeddah Governorate Project Office to the Jeddah Development Authority reflects the historic status of the city of Jeddah, the gateway to pilgrims. The Governor of Makkah also said that Jeddah will strengthen its position as the new face of economic, cultural and tourism development. Makkah Deputy Governor Ameer Badr bin Sultan said the establishment of the Jeddah Development Authority will strengthen efforts aimed at making Jeddah one of the top 100 cities in the world. Jeddah Mayor Salih Alturki emphasized that the Jeddah Development Authority will contribute to achieving a qualitative jump in the development of the city of Jeddah, strengthening the economic situation of the city, diversifying sources of income, providing employment opportunities, consolidating the activities of government agencies and overcoming obstacles.
Jeddah will improve the quality of life in the city. will have a significant impact on achieving the goals of ‘Vision 2030’. The mayor said that it is possible to get a place in the top 100 cities in the world that are livable.
