Legal Adviser Ayman Al-Rifai, head of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Football Association, confirmed that the appeal that the Jeddah Federation intends to file once morest the penalty of suspending its defender Muhannad Al-Shanqiti will be rejected in form, indicating that the final decision will be with the arbitration board at the Sports Arbitration Center.
The Professional Committee of the Saudi Football Association suspended Muhannad Al-Shanqiti, the Al-Ittihad player, because he did not join the Olympic team’s list participating in the Asian U-23 Cup.
Al-Rifai told Al Arabiya Sports News: Given the texts before us, the appeal will be rejected in form, but the final decision rests with the arbitration board at the Sports Arbitration Center.
He added: The punishment imposed on Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti affects the public right, unlike other cases in which other parties were punished.
