Jeddah: Jeddah Port holds record in handling containers. About five lakh containers were handled at Jeddah port in the month of July. As part of Vision 2030, the goal is to make the growth in logistics the main source of income for Saudi Arabia.
Jeddah Port handled the highest number of containers in its history last month. Jeddah Port achieved a historic feat by handling 4,91,000 containers in a single month. This is also the success of various development projects being carried out by Mawani to increase the basic facilities of the port.
Mawani is implementing several projects in collaboration with various strategic partners of Jeddah Port. With an investment of 184 million riyals, various projects such as approach channels, circulation basin, sea lanes and southern station basin are contributing to the face change of Jeddah Port. Also, increasing the facilities for arrival and departure of giant container ships is also among the major development activities of the port.
Jeddah Port’s position as a major logistics platform in the Middle East and its ability to accommodate vessels and cargo of various sizes will increase the importance of Jeddah Port on a regional and global basis. This is part of making the logistics sector a major source of income for the country by 2030.
