Jeddah Floods: Road Closures and Updates Amid Heavy Rains

Jeddah – Several roads in Jeddah have been closed due to heavy rains. Road tunnels filled with water. Hira Street Tunnel, Prince Majeed Tunnel, Prince Saud Al-Faisal Street and Palestine Street were closed. Vehicles were diverted to Al Haramain Road.

The Jeddah Municipality is working hard to drain the water in the tunnels and drains and dispose of the garbage. Some roads are already open. Those traveling this way should strictly follow the instructions of the authorities. The Jeddah Department of Education had earlier announced that schools in Jeddah, Rabigh and Khulais will be closed today (Sunday) due to the possibility of heavy rain. The Jeddah Education Department also said that classes will be held through the Madrasati platform instead. The Indian school in Jeddah is also closed. Jeddah University and Jeddah King Abdulaziz University declared a holiday on Sunday. The universities have informed that the classes will be held in distance mode for the students.

The Makkah Education Department announced a holiday for schools in Makkah, Jumoom, Bahra and Alkamil and the Khunfuda Education Department for schools in Khunfuda today. In these places too, the class will be held online through the Madrasati platform.
