The Twitter account of the co-president of Ecolo, Jean-Marc Nollet, has been hacked. The account has been in the hands of a certain “vitalik.eth” since Friday evening, according to information from RTBF.

The photo and the name of the co-president of the Ecolo party have been changed, but the “V” certification still appears on Jean-Marc Nollet’s profile.

Since Friday, steps have been taken by the party to recover the account with an electronic identification procedure. Asked by RTBF, Ecolo said he did not know who the author of this hack was.

But who is “vitalik.eth”?

The hacker took on the identity of Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Etherum, a decentralized exchange protocol allowing users to create smart contracts. This Russian-Canadian computer scientist active in cryptocurrencies is on Fortune magazine’s list of the 40 most influential people under 40 in the economic world.

Ecolo claims that Jean-Marc Nollet will recover his account in the coming hours.
