The start of construction dates back to last Monday. After emptying the house and evacuating asbestos components during the first two days, the company appointed by the municipality to carry out the work began the actual destruction on Wednesday.
The course of operations must respect a whole series of conditions. Starting with those imposed by the delegated official of Wallonia within the framework of the demolition permit granted. These include the fact of excavating the elements of the dwelling or that of grassing the space once the destruction is complete.
For its part, the municipality of Lobbes also took care to “strengthen” the conditions included in the specifications sent to the tenderer. “In particular, we wanted all the elements of the house to be sent to processing channels so that nothing could be recovered as ‘grigri’ by anyone”, indicated Lucien Bauduin.
Several months ago, the mayor of Lobbes also wanted to meet the parents of Julie and Mélissa, the two little girls abducted and kidnapped whose two bodies were finally found in the property of Sars-la-Buissière 26 years ago. years. “They had never been consulted in the file, I wanted to do so and I undertook to keep them informed of the result”, indicated the mayor of Lobbes.
The future of the site has not yet been precisely determined. But the municipality, which owns it, plans to eventually make it a space open to the public.
