A speech to respond to the protest that is mounting among some teachers and parents of students. Monday, January 10, the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, announced on the France 2 set three devices to simplify the health protocol in schools.
First, if a child is found to be positive in a class, “We will not immediately ask the parents to come and get theirs on the grounds that it is a contact case. We will wait until the end of the day or the school trip. »
When a child is declared positive, his classmates, now contact cases, will be able to perform three self-tests, once morest an antigen test or PCR, then two self-tests in the current protocol. These tests will be delivered free of charge in pharmacies to parents of contact cases, the Prime Minister recalled.
Finally, a single certificate indicating that the self-test is negative will be requested, ” once for all “, once morest one in each test currently.
“Our goal is to keep schools as open as possible, because we all know that it is in the best interests of the children”, recalled the Prime Minister.
Call to strike
A call for a national strike for Thursday was launched at the end of last week by the Snuipp-FSU, the first union of primary teachers, and the SE-Unsa in the face of “The indescribable mess” of the new health protocol. They were quickly joined by the other teachers’ unions, the Snes-FSU, the National Union of High Schools and Colleges (Snalc), the CGT Educ’action, SUD Education, FO and the CFDT. This call was supported by the FCPE, the main federation of parents of students.
Since the start of the school year on January 3, students had to be tested three times in four days if a positive case is detected in their class. Faced with the difficulties experienced by parents to have their child tested in pharmacies, taken by storm for a week, the protocol has been adapted. The pupils no longer have to carry out a complete new course if a new positive case appears in their class within a period of less than seven days. In addition, children who have already been sick with Covid-19 less than two months ago are not obliged to undergo this test route if they do not present any symptoms.
