JC Daniel Award presented to P Jayachandran | Kerala | Deshabhimani

Singer P Jayachandran received the JC Daniel Award. The award was presented by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a function held at the Senate Hall.

The CM said that singer P Jayachandran is the complete fortune of the Malayalees who have made music accessible only to the elite through film songs. We are happy to present the award in the right hands. Jayachandran, who is a part of the art of cinema which popularized music, presented many immortal songs to the Malayalees. He is best known as a lyricist because of his meticulous singing of songs. Apart from Malayalam, he also excelled in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. The CM also wished him all the best for his contribution to the world of music.

In his reply speech, Jayachandran said that his greatest strength and reward are the listeners who pray for him, love him and speak well of him. He does not know much regarding this field other than singing in the music world.

Minister Saji Cherian presided over the function. Minister Antony Raju unveiled the logo of next month’s Kerala International Film Festival to KSFDC Chairman Shaji N Karun. Minister GR Anil, Culture Secretary Rani George, Director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Chalachithra Academy Chairman Ranjith, Secretary C Ajoy and Ravi Menon spoke.

Following the award presentation, a concert titled ‘Bhavagana Sagaram’ featuring Jayachandran’s songs was performed.
