Jazzellerault cultivates eclecticism | Le7.info

After two editions in degraded mode, the Jazzellerault festival intends to regain color from June 9 to 17. On the program for this 29th edition, jazz of course, but also world music to delight the greatest number.

No more editions in degraded mode. Make way for the Jazzellerault d’avant, with its nine days of musical programming as rich as it is eclectic! “We are happy to return to the usual format, does not hide Patrick Fournier, following two editions marked by health restrictions. Hoping that the rooms will be filled… ”It remains the unknown of this return to normal: will the public respond present, as before? “We see it everywhere else, reservations for shows are made later, notes the president of the Châtelleraudais jazz festival. We therefore remain cautious. »

For its 29th edition, Jazzellerault did not skimp on the programming, however, with some fine international names. From June 9, the main stage of the Angelarde will welcome the American Rhoda Scott and her “all-star band” made up of young jazzwomen. “A safe bet”, comments Patrick Fournier. We will also find Richard Bona, a “remarkable bass player” whom the festival has already received in the past or the Django AllStars quintet which celebrates gypsy jazz on the biggest American stages. Finally, it is the Serbian Ana Popovic, considered “the feminine Jimi Hendrix”, who will close this edition.

Salsa night on Saturday

In addition to this paid programming – “the pricing policy has not changed” – the free concerts of the discovery scene and the club are back. A great opportunity to discover local musicians. Not to mention the aperitif concerts in the squares of the villages of the urban community (Chenevelles, Vouneuil, Orches and Antran), with Creamy Mouth and the Go Fast Quartet.

Finally, this Saturday, salsa tunes will rise from Place Emile-Zola, in Châtellerault, thanks to ¿Who’s The Cuban? (free). “We wanted to put the package in the city center,” says the president of Jazzellerault. The most Cuban of French groups will perform there in an “orchestra” format, joined by eleven blowers and a drummer, in order to take the public on a journey through the New York salsa dura of the 1970s. “Our red thread remains eclecticism , emphasizes Patrick Fournier. On this edition, there will be blues, salsa, gypsy jazz, more traditional… The important thing is to bring in what enchants the public, to offer them as much openness as possible. ” It is said.
