For an eternity now, Jazz à Luz has occupied a special place in the agenda of festivals in the Haute-Pyrenees. The toy meeting has been so daring in its programming for more than 30 years, it has explored so many musical lands too rarely crossed, that it has become a lasting part of the landscape of jazz and contemporary music. and improvised. And it is not the latest adventures due to health hazards that risked undermining the fierce will of the Jazz Pyr association, which is working on the final preparations for a festival that smells of summer, relaxed atmosphere, music light and cutting-edge music never far away. From July 13 to 16, there are therefore nearly thirty concerts scattered throughout Luz and well beyond that the altitude festival will offer. With a program focused in 4 directions: a variation around the young Barcelona improvised scene first, with the pianist Agusti Fernandez at the top of the bill within the Liquid trio (Saturday July 16, at 9 p.m.) or even from the opening of the festival with under the marquee (at 9:30 p.m.) the meeting between the piano of Jordina Milla, percussions of Nuria Andorra and the dance mixed with flamenco and butoh of Sonia Sanchez. Guest star of this 31st edition, the Czech singer and violinist Iva Bittova, a safe bet, will create a sensation during a set that she will lead with her son, pianist, acoustician and electronics engineer (Friday July 15, at 9.30 p.m.). But Jazz à Luz has also and above all been noticed over these many years by giving a chance to many up-and-coming artists, those who are shaking up the French musical landscape in particular: the Lorraine and Alsatian scene will thus be honored with the accordionist Emilie Škrijelj and cellist Stéphane Clor (in the “Nuits” project first, Thursday July 14 at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. then both simultaneously, Friday July 15, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., the first with notably percussionist Lê Quan Ninh, the second in solo) but also through the female trio Nout, winner of Jazz Migration 2022 (Thursday July 14, at 1 a.m.) or the multi-instrumentalist artist Paul Wacrenier who can be found in the project The Archetypal Syndicate (Thursday July 14, at 9 p.m.). Finally, we can never blame Jazz à Luz for not being interested in the local scene, as evidenced by the Jazz à Luz 2022 creation entrusted this year to the Occitan polyphony duo Cocanha and the Sec duo, an alternative rock formation ; it promises (Thursday, July 14, at 11 p.m.). And this suggests seductive moments of happiness (we will still mention the rapper Casey, the Beninese from the Akpe Jo Mimi project, the alternative rock of Portron Portron Lopez, or the street show Tôle Story) like those still to be experienced through the picnic and the musical walk in Gèdre (Thursday July 14, from 12:30 p.m.), the festive and relaxed beginnings of the evening in the taverns of Luze, round tables during the day with Anne Montardon, the end of the evening during which will no longer know where to jazz, at the Maison de la Vallée club.
