Since his arrival on the scene, Jayden Struble has demonstrated that he has all the assets to establish himself within a National League defensive brigade. Number 47 performs all the right things, without fluffand with great rigor and confidence.
It was thanks to this well-established confidence that he slipped through the Buffalo Sabers to score his first career success in the NHL. A goal worthy of a player who has an excellent reading of the game and who chooses the perfect moment to cut it (the game).

In addition to reading game patterns well, he knows how to play well with his wand (his stick), while using his body and physical strength well to counter an opponent of the caliber of Tage Thompson.
As Grant McCagg wisely pointed out: no Habs defender stopped him during a powerful move last season. McCagg is obviously talking regarding Thompson, a brute force of nature who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 220 pounds.
Whoops – didn’t mean to repeat Struble’s defensive play on Thompson…. I guess I liked it THAT much. I will say this – there was no Habs defenceman stopping him on a power move last season.

Pay close attention to how Struble positioned his torso and legs to contain Thompson and prevent him from threading the needle. It’s art!
Let’s be serious for a moment: Struble no longer deserves to return to the Laval Rocket. He is an NHL player, there is no longer any doubt, and he has certainly surpassed a few defenders in the Habs hierarchy.
Jordan Harris has every reason in the world to be nervous…he’s looking out for the infirmary at the moment. When David Savard returns, the dominoes will begin to fall and we will know more exactly where Struble is. And with this quality depth on defense, Kent Hughes might move a Matheson or Kovacevic.
As for Sheriff Gustav Lindström, a right-hander who plays a very honest game, might still suffer…
That’s what happens when the Sheriff is not in the lineup… ????

All things considered, Hughes doesn’t just have a problem in front of the net, since this is also the case on defense, where we find (too) good depth.

– The Canadian has not yet made a recall.
The CH indicates, in the wake of the injury to Tanner Pearson, that it has not recalled any player “for the moment”.
We should have more information on the attacker’s state of health in the coming hours.
Some members of the team will speak to us around 4:15 p.m.

•3rd best scorer among rookie defensemen in the American League.
•3rd in points for the Rocket.
•His 4 goals were scored at even strength.
•2nd (rookie defensemen) in the AHL in number of shots on goal.
