His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in the presence of his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed al-Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of BEEAH Group, has approved the joint project “Jawaher Boston Medical District”.
This pioneering collaboration in the UAE and the region, led by the BEEAH Group, Mass General Brigham Hospitals Network and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, is set to set a new benchmark in the healthcare sector in the Arab world. with the creation of an advanced and integrated network of health systems in the emirate, with hospitals, laboratories, R&D centers, etc., which will be governed by the most recent international best practices.
The pioneering project was approved this Thursday during the reception by His Highness of a delegation at the Badi Palace, which included representatives of the collaborating entities, namely, Meghan Gregonis, US Consul General in Dubai; Khaled al-Huraimel, CEO of BEEAH Group; Dr. Hans Thomas, chief medical officer and executive officer of the Mass General Brigham Hospitals Network; and Dr. Laurie Glimcher, President and CEO of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
During the meeting, His Highness reviewed a detailed presentation of the Jawaher Boston Medical District project, It is also expected to make a significant contribution to medical studies and research fields in general, and cancer diseases in particular, drawing on the experience of the project’s main collaborators as well as other scientific and research institutes in Sharjah.
Built to reflect the latest design innovations in the global healthcare industry, the medical district will be located on the Emirates Ring Road, next to the Sharjah Mosque, and will encompass a range of specialties, such as preventive and lifestyle medicine, oncology, women’s health, pediatrics, cardiovascular disease, neurosciences, behavioral health, and rehabilitative medicine.
The project also it will expand its strong network of care to reach homes, schools, workplaces and residential neighborhoods in Sharjah.
