The wait for Javonte Williams should soon be over. The Denver Broncos running back, who was injured for a long time, has now stated that he feels fit for the training camp. The comeback is in sight.
Javonte Williams is nearing his comeback following nine months out through injury. In week four of last season, the running back tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee in the game once morest the Las Vegas Raiders. This was followed by months of rehab and working out in the gym.
The team from Colorado can count on the running back for the upcoming season. On the sidelines of a football camp, when asked if he would be there for the start of the Broncos’ training camp, the 23-year-old said: “That’s the plan. It feels like I’m ready.”
Assessment of the Broncos crucial
“It’s all regarding the Broncos’ assessment of what they think regarding it,” Williams said. “Just seeing how I’m feeling, moving, just trying to get my speed back to normal, things like that.”
The Broncos brought Williams onto the team in 2021 with a second-round pick (35 pick). In his freshman season, he impressed right away, rushed for 903 yards, had seven total touchdowns, and was named to the all-rookie team. The following year, however, the start of the season was disappointing, until the game once morest the Raiders he did not get a touchdown. Then came the shock of the injury.
Teammates are very happy
Coach Sean Peyton had stressed over the summer that he expected Williams to be there when the training camp started. That plan now seems to be coming true.
“I’m really excited,” said Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain. “Vonte is looking good. I can’t wait for him to get out and play with the lads.”
Williams will be reunited with the Las Vegas Raiders at the start of the season. On September 10, the Broncos host the Nevada team.
