The Puerto Rican Player Javier Baez made a stop to his performance with the Tigers de Detroit to show solidarity with his native Puerto Rico following the floods and damage caused in his passage through the country by Hurricane Fiona.
Báez, born in Bayamón and belonging to the Detroit Tigers, expressed his support for his compatriots through his Instagram account.
Báez reacted to the suffering that Puerto Rican families are experiencing due to the scourge of this atmospheric phenomenon that has left nearly 30 inches of rain and has caused the destruction of bridges, properties and even deaths.
“I know we are going through something super difficult, I am with you. All those families who are in need of a hot plate of food can stop by @taquizapr in Toa Baja and we will serve it for FREE!!” Báez published on Monday. “If your community is affected and you are in need of a hot meal, you can call 787-665-2323 (Joshua) or stop by @taquizapr and we will make all the arrangements. Blessings to you all!”
Nicknamed El Mago, Báez is one of the best shortstops in the majors. So far this season, the 29-year-old is hitting .241 with 14 home runs and 58 RBIs.
