The Jati Agung Police Station in South Lampung is taking a proactive approach to combat the rising number of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases in its district. Partnering with the local District Leadership communication Forum (forkopicam) and the Karang Anyar Puskesmas UPT health clinic, thay conducted a fogging operation targeting two villages with high rates of infection: Marga Kaya and Jatimulyo.
Leading the charge was Jati Agung Police Chief, Iptu Rudi Prawira, accompanied by the Sub-District Head Firdaus Adam, Danposramil Peltu Lukman, and medical personnel. The operation commenced in marga Kaya Village with the village head, Mujimin, and his team providing crucial support.
This initiative, the result of a collaborative meeting between Forkopicam members, reflects the commitment of local agencies to address the community’s needs. “This activity is to help the community, by synergizing with each other (Polsek, red), together with the sub-district, and the posramils, as well as related institutions to always work together and work together in solving problems in the community. One of them is eradicating this dengue fever,” stated Iptu Rudi Prawira.
Iptu Prawira stressed that the increased DHF cases in Marga Kaya and Jatimulyo demanded immediate action. “This activity is to overcome and suppress increased dengue fever in the community. And also as an effort to prevent the spread of DHF in so as not to multiply,” he explained.
The fogging operation aims to reduce the mosquito population and curb the spread of the disease. However, Iptu Prawira underscored the importance of community involvement. “This is significant to do, to maintain public health and minimize the risk of transmission of dengue fees. Because the fogging or fumigation activities that we do are only as one of the steps for prevention,” he emphasized, advocating for the community to adopt the 3M approach: draining, closing, and burning potential mosquito breeding sites.
