The Central Java (Jateng) contingent became the overall champion of the badminton sport at the 21st Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) 2024 after adding three golds in three individual events at the PBSI North Sumatra GOR, Deli Serdang.
In the final match, Thursday (19/9), Central Java added three gold medals through the men’s singles, women’s singles and women’s doubles.
This additional medal means that Central Java has a collection of five gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
This achievement repeats Central Java’s achievement at the 2012 PON when it became the overall champion with three golds, three silvers, and three bronzes.
Meanwhile, the two golds won by West Java (Jabar) in two categories, men’s doubles and mixed doubles, made them finish the 2024 PON badminton in second place with a collection of two golds, one silver, and three bronzes. (Ant/M-3)
