Jasprit Bumrah returns to lead Indian team in T20 series against Ireland

Mumbai: Pacer Jasprit Bumrah returned to the Indian team after 10 months. Bumrah will lead the Indian team in the Twenty20 series against Ireland starting on August 18. The BCCI announced the squad for the tour of Ireland on Monday. Senior players have been rested in the team captained by Bumrah. Hardik Pandya is also not in the team. Rituraj Gaikwad is the vice-captain.

Sanju Samson, Yashaswi Jaiswal, Jitesh Sharma, Rinku Singh and Tilak Verma are all in the team. The series consists of three Twenty20 matches. All three matches will be held in Dublin. The matches are on August 18, 20 and 23.

Bumrah, who was injured earlier in September 2022, was trying to make a comeback at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. With this, it is certain that Bumrah will play in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Bumrah’s addition to the team will give India a boost to its World Cup title chances. Bumrah may also play in the upcoming Asia Cup.

The squad for the series has been selected by the selection committee headed by the new BCCI selection committee chairman Ajith Agarkar with a view to giving an opportunity to the players selected for the Asian Games.
