As expected, the sprinters explained themselves fairly on Tuesday in Nogaro. And like the day before in Bayonne, the Belgian Jasper Philipsen took over his competitors at the end of a very calm day.

Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) seems untouchable in the sprint. The Belgian won his second victory in two days on the Tour de France by being the fastest, Tuesday July 4, in Nogaro during the fourth stage. He took the opportunity to put on the green jersey for the points classification. Regarding the general classification, the Briton Adam Yates (UAE) retains the leader’s yellow jersey on the eve of the first mountain stage in the Pyrenees.

Like Monday in Bayonne, the Australian Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Dstny) and the German Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious) complete the podium, while the Frenchman Bryan Coquard took fourth place. The final on the Nogaro circuit was marked by three crashes which notably knocked out Dutchman Fabio Jakobsen, one of Philipsen’s main rivals.

Previously, the stage had looked like a long procession, animated only by a hopeless breakaway by two riders from Normandy, Benoit Cosnefroy (AG2R Citroën) and Anthony Delaplace (Arkéa Samsic).
