Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora Remembered by NYPD – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK — On Saturday, New York City will remember the lives of Detectives Wilbert Mora and Jason Rivera almost a year later that they were killed while on duty in Harlem.

The remembrance mass is at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and will begin at 10 am on Saturday.

“Every day we see them and we don’t stop thinking regarding that tragedy,” we always think of ourselves and our families,” said detective Osvaldo Collado of the 32nd police station. “And we always think of ourselves and our families.”

Just blocks from the 32nd Precinct in Manhattan, officers Rivera, 22, and Mora, 27, died following being shot during a domestic violence call in Harlem on Friday night, January 21, 2022.

His service and loyalty to the police oath remains one to emulate according to those who knew him.

“The truth is that we still feel the great loss of those two guys,” Collado said. “They were one of the best two police officers I have ever met in my 29 years that I have been here in this precinct.”
