Almost 52 years old, Jaromir Jagr has just played his first match of the 2023-2024 season.
On Wednesday, he was in the training of the Kladno Knights, the team he owns in the Czech Republic, for a duel against Dynamo Pardubice.

This means that the legendary number 68 is playing a 36th season in professional hockey and his possible induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame is pushed back another year.
Jagr also contributed to the score in a 4-3 loss. In the second period, he provided an assist on Jakub Strnad’s success.
The best European scorer in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) has worn the colors of the Knights since 2018, but has not played a full season for several years now. In 2022-2023, he put on skates for 26 duels and amassed 14 points.
“First and foremost, it’s fun. Then, if you stop, you will become fat and unhealthy. You will have operations on your back, knees and hips. I would crash [sans le hockey]. I see it in anyone else and I won’t do that. I want a happy life, so I will work hard until I die, because that is the only way possible,” Jagr explained to the daily “The New York Times” last February.

The Czech was the Pittsburgh Penguins’ first-round pick (fifth overall) in the 1990 draft and made the jump to the NHL that same year.
His number will also be hoisted to the heights of the PPG Paints Arena next February 18.
Jagr played a total of 1733 games in the Bettman circuit, collecting 766 goals and 1155 assists for 1921 points. In addition to the Pens uniform, he also wore those of the Washington Capitals, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils, Panthers of Florida and the Calgary Flames.
