Jared Davidson: A Rising Star in the NHL with Unconventional Journey | Montreal Canadiens

2023-09-25 05:21:15

Young Jared Davidson is a very intriguing prospect for the Canadian. Among other things because he was drafted at 19 years old unlike 17 for the majority of players during the NHL draft.

During his last two junior seasons he was excellent with collections of 89 and 82 points. He also led his Seattle team to a Western League championship a few months ago.

Now making the jump to the pros, Davidson was not only inspired, he was lit up yesterday by the presence and support of Montreal fans for an intra-squad game.

It is special. It’s an intrasquad game, that doesn’t mean anything, but it was really amazing to see. I felt like the whole city was behind us.

Today’s experience with these fans gives me even more confidence. This makes me feel like I’m not that far from the goal.

On Sunday, the 21-year-old, participating in his second Canadiens camp, took the easiest turn in what has been a perilous journey thus far.

He’s a player who was cut by several minor league teams in Alberta, who went undrafted in the WHL before joining the Seattle Thunderbirds, who was overlooked by Team Canada for several international competitions, who was twice excluded from the NHL draft before being chosen in the fifth round a year ago.

Yesterday, he stood out in almost every presence he made in this match.

Davidson, who scored three goals in a preseason game earlier this week, beat Jake Allen to open the scoring Sunday. He created several good chances for his teammates during the followingnoon, then got the fans on their feet once more by scoring in the shootout.
