Japan’s Xbox Series has doubled Xbox One sales, but there’s still a long way to go | 4Gamers

According to Farmiton statistics, the console sales of the Xbox Series series in Japan have more than doubled the sales of the previous generation console Xbox One.

Data released by Famitsu shows that as of July 3, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have sold regarding 260,504 units, while the Xbox One has sold only 114,831 units over its lifetime. In Japan, however, the best-selling console in the Xbox series is the Xbox 360, with a total of 1.6 million units sold.

Recently, the sales of Xbox consoles in Japan have indeed been on the rise. In the last month or even two weeks, the sales surpassed the PS5. Of course, the main reason is the difficulty of the PS5 in production capacity and the scheduling of distribution.

Overall, though, the Xbox Series still has a lot of room for improvement. Currently, the PS5 has sold more than 1.7 million units in Japan, but both are still far behind the Nintendo Switch, which has sold 25 million units.

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has repeatedly emphasized that this generation of consoles will be more catering to Japanese players, including the acquisition of Tango Gameworks led by Mikami Shinji, and policies such as Xbox Game Pass.
