The Beijing Winter Olympics are over. In this Winter Olympics, the mascot, Bingdundun, became popular. The Japanese TV reporter Tsujigang Yoshido who bought too many Bingdundun badges also became a Chinese Internet celebrity and was given a nickname. It’s called “Yi Dun Dun”.
In the latest episode of Nippon TV, “Yi Dundun” greeted the Japanese host Mr. Xiu energetically, “Good morning! Good host!”
The host said, “Brother Yitang, you, Yi Dundun, are very popular in China now! You have become a celebrity in China.”
Yi Dundun replied, “I’m almost becoming a symbol of Sino-Japanese friendship now. This is not what I said.”
Yidundun also gave an example, “The local financial media reported that the economic value created by Yidundun since the two-week Spring Festival holiday has been regarding 45 billion yen (3.06 billion Hong Kong dollars).”
Yi Dundun then provocatively asked the host, “Mr. Xiu, do you think I’m coming back?”
The host smiled, “For our station, you are not that important. For this side, you don’t have to come back.”
Yi Dundun laughed and joked, “I think so too, it’s more suitable for me than Japan and China.”
Yi Dundun also showed off a piece of Chinese, “I’m starting to learn Chinese now! You’ve worked hard! I’m Tsujigang Yitang, thank you!”
The host, Mr. Xiu, said, “Chinese has become so slippery, or you can stay there and don’t come back!”
One second, Yi Dundun was still in pain, but the next second, he was nervous, “Ah, no, no, I’ll still go back. I’ll be back in a few days, wait for me.”
Later, the live broadcast in front was cut off, and the host and the guests in the back joked, “I always thought that Yi Dun Dun was a living treasure, but I didn’t expect to go to China and become a treasure!”
However, Yidundun is indeed popular. Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Hua Chunying also tweeted in Japanese on Twitter, thanking “Yidundun” for its interesting coverage during the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Hua Chunying tweeted: “Mr. Yi Dundun, thank you for your interesting and loving report on Bing Dun Dun. Even if the Winter Olympics are over, you can come to China for an interview at any time, and you are very welcome to stay in Beijing.”
Afterwards, Hua Chunying posted another tweet, writing: “Thanks to Mr. Tuoyi Dundun, Bingdundun’s derivatives have been sold out. Although there is Bingdundun at the entrance of the Blue Hall of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I have It’s also hard to find.”
These two tweets by Sister Hua show that she attaches great importance to the friendship between China and Japan.
