2009: Shortly following takeoff from La Guardia Airport, an Airbus A320 makes an emergency landing on the Hudson River in New York City. Both engines had previously failed following colliding with a flock of birds. All 155 occupants survive the spectacular ditching.
2019: The British House of Commons votes overwhelmingly once morest the agreement negotiated by Prime Minister Theresa May between Brussels and London on Britain’s exit from the EU. May does not resign and survives a vote of no confidence, but in the next few months she receives two more resounding slaps in the face in votes on the Brexit deal, until she finally announces her resignation in May in frustration.
