János Lackfi suffered a heart attack – 777

The poet-writer János Lackfi became aware of muscle fever on Christmas Eve, and then he felt as if a “road roller was pressing on his chest”. In his Facebook post, he explained what happened to him. The poet wrote that he has been doing very well since then.

János Lackfi had a heart attack on Szenteste. The well-known Hungarian poet reported on the incident on December 24 last year on his social media page. He became aware of muscle fever, then felt as if “road roller caplatna on the chest”, his arms went limp, his forehead was hit by the water, and he finally collapsed on the bed. The poet wrote that he has been doing very well since then.

“I yell at my wife, my eight-year-old daughter would run away in terror, I selfishly beg her to stay, I hug her and Juli, because it might be the last time. We call the doctor, then the ambulance, the dispatcher stays on the line the whole time. Our granddaughter runs out onto the main road to direct the ambulance to our house.
I might have had a seizure on the other side of the country, during a performance, or when I was driving, I might have been all alone. Grace”
he writes in his post.

Since then, the poet has been taking medication, he has to change his lifestyle, but he also sees the positive side of this. He was transferred from Városmajor to Balatonfüred, where he is being rehabilitated.

“I lost ten kilos, I liked to eat thick, now I like thin. Since then, I’ve been doing ten thousand steps, sometimes fifteen thousand, and I’ve been doing physical therapy. I cry a little more often. I can mourn, but I can also laugh. Somehow, everything around me had depth. I’m discovering my new life” he wrote in the post.

Even during the difficult life situation, the poet clung to his faith: “Now I put everything in front of the Good Lord, I ask for forgiveness from my loved ones and from the Creator for all the bad things I have done. (…) The Father said, I heard that he loves my energy, my flamboyance, and when I fail, then… He is very sad for me, I added immediately as a geek. But I’ve already heard his voice: no, no, he’s really pushing me to stand up, to keep going towards him. This is him… I have learned regarding mercy.”

The Attila József award-winning poet had a stroke earlier, even in 2011. According to him, they built their family home at the time, in which they have lived ever since, and he overworked himself to raise the necessary money. In April, for example, when he fell ill, he had 42 performances across the country.

“It wasn’t a healthy rhythm and pace, to put it mildly. In retrospect, I don’t know what I might have done differently, because we got a loan from a friend to finish the house, and it had to be returned to a family with four children,” said Lackfi, who considers it a blessing that the stroke was mild and that he received timely treatment.

In the same way, even following the heart attack, he tries to take a step back from his usual rhythm of life. “I’m considering what to marry and what not. I’m blowing up the calendar, there are fewer performances left. Smartly. I, who loved to climb all the mountaintops at once, go over all the walls at once, am now learning to slow down” – written by.

We wish János Lackfi a speedy recovery! Let’s pray for him!
