Essen (NRW) – The wedding rings for the summer wedding are ready – the documents for your funeral too. When this sad day will be – Janis Reuter (32) deliberately does not want to know the prognosis of the doctors. “As long as there is hope, I try to grasp every straw in life,” she says.
In 2018, the woman from Essen received the horror diagnosis of aggressive breast cancer BRCA1 – triple negative. The single mother of a young daughter had her breasts removed and suffered chemotherapy and radiation. After more than a year, the Cancer defeated.
But last fall, fate struck once more brutally: “There are metastases everywhere in my upper body, in the lungs and abdominal cavity, in the neck, the lymph nodes are affected,” says Janis. Since then, she has received 18 chemotherapies: “More is not possible, that is probably the standard of conventional medicine. But I don’t want to and can’t bother with that!”, she shows herself combative.
Her appeal, especially to young women: “Go to preventive care! If you feel anything unusual, insist on an investigation and don’t be put off!’
The clerk is also pinning her hopes on alternative medicine. She has to pay the costs for preparations and therapies herself – but her financial resources are almost exhausted. That’s why Candy Wojcik (31) started a fundraiser for her best friend on the “Gofundme” platform.
Her fiancé Kevin Fischer (37) and daughter Aliya (11) give Janis strength and confidence. The high school student (6th grade) points to a picture of a lion’s head she has painted in her room and says: “Mama is as strong as a lioness!” Then the girl quietly adds: “She told me that everyone has to die sometime .”
