Representative Jamil Al-Sayyed responded on his Twitter account, writing, “Why Franjieh?! Before the election session between Franjieh and Azour, I found 3 parties in front of me.”

He added, “A parliamentary team supporting Franjieh, composed of the Shiite duo and well-known allies from all sects, and a parliamentary team of independents and changeists who were divided between the White Paper and Ziyad Baroud, and a minority of them belonged to Azour, two of whom were “independent” Druze who joined Jumblatt.

Al-Sayyed continued, “The team “intersected” on Azour’s candidacy in the hope of excluding Franjieh, consisting of the forces, the Socialist Party and the Aounist movement, who hated each other for fighting in times of war and with mutual accusations in the time of the state of corruption, insults, bickering and failure until the last day of President Aoun’s term.

He pointed out that, “In conclusion, I found that this tripartite alliance that hates each other is wrong in its form and content, so it was correct for me to vote the opposite, and I chose Franjieh, and I considered that Franjieh is the available candidate who is required to abide by the conditions that I consider to be in the interest of Lebanon.”

Al-Sayyed explained, “I previously declared it in the media as follows, that it would have an independent government with competencies, without quotas for sectarian leaders, and with exceptional financial and economic powers to restore the state from them and save the country, and because it is capable of returning the displaced to Syria and rejecting Israel’s aggressions and settlement despite all International pressure, and because he will be once morest any divisive project that I see coming to the country, and may lead to the emigration of Christians, just as happened in the plot to deport them in 1976, which was rejected at that time by his grandfather, the president.

And he continued, “Because he will fight for the unity of Lebanon, and he will not be the first to carry the bag to flee the country, and he will not submit to the militias if the partition plot comes.”

Al-Sayyed concluded, “To the frivolous who claim that the Shiite duo pressured me sectarianly to vote for Franjieh, I remind them of my independent convictions and their leaders and say: The day Jumblatt and Bassil voted a year ago with the Shiite duo of President Nabih Berri to head Parliament, Jamil Al-Sayyed’s vote was a white paper.”
