The Colombian who could not establish himself in Greece with Olympiacos, not even in Sao Paulo in Brazil, he hopes to do so in Spain, the country where he played with Real Madrid for four seasons and to which he returned wearing the Rayo Vallecano shirt.

On September 16, he was greeted with applause and emotion by the fans who witnessed the 3-1 victory over Osasuna, and in which James entered in the 86th minute. The Vallecas club published an interview in which he was asked about the reasons why he returned to the Iberian country, the fans, the objectives, the Copa del Rey, the Colombian National Team and the hardest moment he has experienced in his career. Learn more:

Direct, precise, calm and convinced He answered eleven questions about the new beginning. He opened his heart and confessed that with the National Team he lived the hardest moment of his career by not going to Qatar.I have had several, but the hardest was being left out of the last World Cup, because all of us as players dream of playing in a World Cup and being left out is frustrating.”

But the dream is back in full swing at the moment he is living with the tricolor, which is third in the South American qualifiers. “We are doing very well and going through a good phase. My teammates and I are doing things well, we have been at a good level for some time now, we are growing a lot, we are also compact, we hope that in the upcoming matches we can do things well and be able to go to the World Cup, which is what we all want.”

Returning to Spain to wear the Rayo jersey is the first time that James has played in the same country. He explained the reasons for his return: “Everyone knows that Spain is a league that I love a lot, I have played well here, so it is a reason to return. I also feel that the club wants to do good things, so it has made me come here. I hope that it will be a good year for my teammates and for me.”

What goals have you set for yourself for this season?

Being able to play well, helping my teammates so they can play good football and above all winning. I am a person who likes to win, we hope I can help with all these things and be able to go as far as possible.

How has it been returning to La Liga?

Very happy, a league that I love very much, where I was able to succeed and I hope to be able to do it again.

What did you think of the Vallecas fans?

Very good, they are a very supportive group of fans. And it’s good when you’re at home and you have people outside who can support you and that’s important. At home we have to be strong and win the games and everything that’s at stake.

What do you ask of the season?

I think there is a team that can compete, be among the top three, why not? It is a team that has talent.

And in the Copa del Rey?

In the Copa del Rey, you have to go as far as possible and why not win it? I think there is talent.

James wants to think and live in the present, let everything flow and he left a reminder to the 19-year-old “10” who arrived in Spain for the first time. “Don’t change anything, keep going down the same path, dream of winning things, play well and have the same hunger.”
