Stalled, the James Harden file is likely to drag on during the summer, or even longer. But to date, the Barbu’s intentions have not changed. Ramesse wants to leave Philadelphia and seems to have only one franchise in mind to pursue his career: the Los Angeles Clippers.
Currently in Las Vegas as part of the Summer League, the insider of The Athletic Sam Amick – often well-informed – brings us the latest noise from the corridors concerning the big files of the off-season. Among them, there is obviously that concerning James Harden, eager to leave the Sixers while the general manager Daryl Morey prefers to temporize.
“Harden’s position has not changed. He still wants to leave Philadelphia,” says Sam Amick. “He’s still upset over the way Morey handled his case last month when he might become a free agent. And even though it was recently revealed that Harden was at the same NBPA party as Sixers co-star Joel Embiid and former Sixers owner Michael Rubin in Las Vegas, he is still determined to start next season under the Clippers jersey.”
The Clippers and obviously no one else. Wouldn’t James Harden make us a Damian Lillard by any chance?
It’s SoCal or bust for James Harden ????

If the Sixers demonstrate a similar approach to the Blazers in that they don’t want to rush to transfer their star, the situation is obviously not the same. Unlike Lillard who still has four years of contract, James Harden is now entering the last year of his deal, he who activated his player option at $ 35.6 million this summer. As for Daryl Morey, unlike his Portland counterpart Joe Cronin who knows he will transfer Lillard at some point, he is strongly thinking of keeping Ramesse next season to try to play the title, Daryl possessing a long-standing relationship with the bearded.
“The rival executives I was able to speak with at the Summer League are convinced that the Sixers now want to keep Harden. Never mind the dissatisfaction.
The weak discussions between the Clippers and the Sixers seem to support this theory. Morey is asking for a consideration that gives the strong impression that he is not really interested in completing a transfer in the near future.
– Sam Amick
If the Clippers have easily transferable contracts to set up a trade, including expiring deals, as well as two first-round draft picks, we doubt that Daryl Morey is really interested in this kind of package in exchange for Harden given the Philly title goals. Can a three- or four-team deal be put in place to send Ramesse to the Clippers while allowing Morey to pick up what he sees as decent consideration? Not impossible, but necessarily complicated.
James Harden can be as “determined” as he wants to join the Clippers, the ball is not really in his court in the end. It is therefore difficult to see him start next season in his hometown of Los Angeles. And even if we know that he is capable of doing a lot of things to try to get what he wants, the fact that he is entering his last year of contract does not really give him the option to force his departure. through reprehensible behavior or by flouting his basketball, as he was able to do with Houston and Brooklyn…
