Saints Quarterback Jameis Winston left training on Monday with one foot injury. “He pulled his foot a little bit,” head coach Allen said following practice.

Winston was not treated on the pitch and continued training for a while following feeling unwell before deciding to head to the training room.

Allen said that during a practice session, Winston “kinda felt it pinch a little, so he wanted to go in and have it checked out.”

Winston spent the second half of last season and much of the past offseason recovering from surgery and signed a two-year contract extension worth up to $28 million in March. Winston had limited practice on the field during the offseason, but has returned to full team practice since training camp began on July 27. His highlights included long, accurate touchdown passes to Deonte Harty and rookie Chris Olave as fast receivers passed secondary.

Winston, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2013 and was drafted first by Tampa Bay in 2015, joined the New Orleans Saints as a free agent in 2020.

In 2019, Winston passed for more than 5,000 yards and 33 touchdowns but also led the NFL with 30 interceptions.
