Madden 23 revealed its wide receiver ratings Monday, and many in the NFL asked the same question following seeing the list: Where’s Ja’Marr Chase?

The Cincinnati Bengals pass catcher received a rating of 87, which means only 18th place.

Chase responded to his surprisingly low rating on Twitter, explaining that he’ll use it as “extra motivation.”

i’m going keep working . Extra motivation

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady supported Chase on social media, referring to the “Madden rating” he received in his sophomore NFL season.

Don’t sweat it man. Madden didn’t even put me in the game my second year @Real10jayy__

Chase, who started his rookie season last year with a 75 Madden rating, put in an impressive performance in 2021, catching 81 passes for 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns and earning Offensive Rookie of the Year. The 22-year-old ranked 20th in receptions, fourth in receiving yards and third in TD catches in the regular season.

The LSU star also set records for most freshman receiving yards by a player in a game (266) and in a single season (2021), as well as a postseason rookie record with 368 yards in the playoffs.
