Defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who is considered one of the top prospects going into this year’s draft, will not be participating in Scouting Combine workouts (streaming live on the free NFL Network stream on ran.de starting Tuesday).

The Georgia Bulldogs star lineman will only conduct interviews with interested franchises and undergo a physical exam. This was confirmed by his agent Drew Rosenhaus “ESPN” insider Adam Schefter.

Rather, Carter will focus on Georgia Pro Day on March 15 and audition for talent scouts, his agent said.

After the 21-year-old won the National Championships for the second time in a row with Georgia, he announced that he would be giving up his senior year in college and making the move to the NFL this year.

NFL Draft 2023: Will Jalen Carter be the first overall pick?

The six-foot-tall, 300-pound tackle is a likely candidate for a top five pick in the upcoming draft and is high up in the US pundits’ mock drafts.

Carter will even step off the board as the first overall pick for ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. For his “ESPN” colleague Todd McShay, he was selected by the Chicago Bears following being downtraded in fourth place.

Carter was unanimously named an All-American in 2022—an honorary title given to outstanding athletes in college. He was also selected to the All-SEC First-Team, selection for the best player of the season, and was a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award for Best Lineman.

In the past season, the D-Liner often had to struggle with injury problems. A stubborn ankle injury limited him in the first half of the season. Carter also sustained a knee injury in October that caused him to miss two games.
