Olympic champion Alessandro Hämmerle finished fourth following a controversial decision following being cut by Nörl during the race. Bronze went to Omar Visintin (ITA).
For Austria it was the tenth medal at the snowboard and ski freestyle world championships in Georgia, the second from gold following Andreas Prommegger in the snowboard parallel slalom.
“I already knew it when I crossed the finish line,” said Dusek in a first reaction at the finish. He had pushed his board over the finish line at the right time and thus slowed down Nörl and was therefore able to coolly follow the jury’s decision.
