Jake Allen’s season is over

Like hospitals in Quebec since the start of the pandemic, the Canadiens’ infirmary will have been overflowing throughout the season. After making the announcement regarding Jonathan Drouin, a few days ago, the Canadian indicated that the seasons of Jake Allen and Justin Barron were over.

Allen suffered a groin injury in the first period of Saturday’s game in Toronto. The organization maintains that this is not the same injury as the one suffered on January 12, in Boston, which kept him out of action for nine weeks.

“It’s a shame he’s injured and his season is over. He’s kept us in the game a lot this season, and he’s allowed us to win. I had the chance to see what he can do. He was impressive,” said Martin St-Louis before the team’s departure to Columbus.

It must be said that the 31-year-old goalkeeper had not been idle since his return to play on March 17. St-Louis had given him the net for the Habs 11 out of 12 times. It was during this 11th start that he inflicted this injury on himself.

At least, the Canadian pointed out, Allen shouldn’t have to undergo surgery.

Short audition for Barron

Same thing for Barron, injured in an ankle during the visit of the Senators, April 5. In his case, it’s a bit of a shame considering that St. Louis seemed to want to offer him a real opportunity to gain experience until the end of the season.

He would also have given the Laval Rocket a damn good helping hand during the American League playoffs.

His sample was ultimately limited to five meetings.

“It’s part of the game. It’s something you can’t control, said the Canadiens coach. But, I’m happy with what we saw of him. (The games he played), it will still help him this summer and during the next training camp. »

In addition, the organization also made it known that Emil Heineman, the hope acquired in the transaction involving Tyler Toffoli, had been brought to Montreal for a medical follow-up.

He is receiving treatment for an upper body injury suffered recently during a game in Sweden.
