Pitcher Jairo Iriarte became the 485th Venezuelan to see action in Major League Baseball on Tuesday and the 12th to debut in the Majors this season.

Iriarte made his debut in a Chicago White Sox uniform in a game in which that team fell 9-0 to the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The native of the state of La Guaira played for one inning – the fifth inning – in which he allowed one run, gave two walks and also got his first strikeout in the Big Top (Colton Cowser).

Iriarte, who in Venezuela belongs to Tiburones de La Guaira, was brought up directly from the Double A branch of the white-footed organization. There he participated in 23 games, with a total of 126 innings worked, and left a record of five wins for seven losses, with 122 strikeouts and 57 walks issued.

In that same match, Anthony Santander, also from Venezuela, stood out for the oriole cause. The outfielder from Margarita finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
