‘Jailer’ has UA. Certificate: Petition in Madras High Court, Chennai

Chennai: Rajinikanth starrer ‘Jailor’ has been given ‘UA’. PIL filed in Madras High Court seeking withdrawal of certificate. It was pointed out in the petition that ‘A’ certificate was issued when the film, which had a lot of violent scenes, was released abroad.

Advocate M.L. said that Jailer, which has violent scenes, is not a film suitable for children. Ravi approached the High Court. UA in the sense that it can be viewed by anyone over the age of twelve. The certificate was issued by the Censor Board.

However, it has received a certificate in foreign countries stating that it can only be seen by adults. The demand is that the Censor Board should be instructed to withdraw the certificate issued to the jailer and the show should be stopped until then.

It was pointed out in the petition that the hero and the anti-hero of the film have been depicted in detail committing gruesome murders. The scenes of smashing the head with a pitcher, cutting off the head with a sword and cutting off the ear are just a few of them. The petitioner pointed out that the Censor Board’s guidelines clearly state that celebration and glorification of violence should not be allowed.

Rajinikanth and Vinayakan starrer Jailer is making waves at the box office. Nine days following its release, the film is estimated to have earned Rs 500 crore worldwide. Jailer, directed by Nelson, also stars Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Siva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan and Tamannaah Bhatia in small roles.
