Coach Alberto Gamero got what was planned in Montería. This Saturday they beat Jaguares (1-2), despite ending with uncertainty following an individual error that led to discount. In the blue they rotated the payroll thinking regarding Copa Libertadores; the youngsters added minutes and more than complied. Double pirouette in the air, ‘Tino’ Asprilla style, to celebrate his third goal with Millonarios.
Jaguares’ response was immediate and they tried it with Maicol Balanta. Arriving from the right sector and shooting towards the goal that goalkeeper Álvaro Montero deflected for a corner. At 35′, the goal came through César Carrillo, but the action was annulled for being out of place. The line assistant had already noticed the position of Andrés Rentería. At the end of the first half, Óscar Cortés tried once more. This time the goalkeeper Mina drowned out the goal cry. With the 0-1 they went to rest.
In the second half the match became even more entertaining. Back and forth at times. César Torres’ men wanted to surprise and almost complicated the blue. Murillo was wrong, but Montero saved. A minute later, Murillo himself disarmed Balanta in a promising action. The errors did not stop and following a mistake by the goalkeeper, Juan Camilo García had to correct. Product of that play was born the second goal of Millonarios.
It was the 59th minute when Jader Valencia sent the ball deep, all following a center by Quiñones and a previous attempt by Guerra, a pass from Jader himself. All that action was born in a long pass from Garcia. The VAR reviewed a possible offside, but everything was in order. The goal was legal. Millionaires was already winning, 0-2.
