Jae-myung Lee “Exercise your authority to the fullest in matters related to people’s livelihood…don’t get caught up in it”

Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, “I will use my authority to the maximum extent possible to produce results as soon as possible, in matters related to people’s livelihoods and what the people want.”

Representative Lee said this at the on-site top-level meeting held today at the Jeonju Provincial Office in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, regarding the passage of the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Sea, and Sea Water Level Act yesterday, which mandated market isolation of over-produced rice.

CEO Lee said, “Some say it’s an excessive speed war or a one-way street, but where is the opposition in the activities to maintain the price of main grain, which is a key element of food security? It’s a prime example of what we’re doing,” he said.

He also urged the People’s Power side, once once more, to not openly hold back, and to willingly cooperate with the rice price maintenance policy that the heads of the People’s Power regional organizations are also taking collective action.

Earlier yesterday, at the National Assembly’s Agricultural and Seawater Control Bill Review, the Democratic Party members handled the amendment to the Grain Management Act independently, arguing that it was a snatch from the power of the people.
