Sources close to the defense of the son of Nabila Makram, the Minister of Immigration, indicated that the lawyers will submit documents to the US Defense Court confirming that he suffers from schizophrenia, according to Egyptian media.
She said that they will demand that he be presented to a team of doctors to determine his psychological condition, and whether or not he suffers from mental illness while committing the murder, according to what was reported by the “Cairo and Al-Nas” satellite channel.

She also added that the minister’s son had experienced, at the beginning of 2021, a kind of psychological breakdown, and he was alone in America, so his mother had to travel to him, and he was then deposited in a psychiatric clinic.
During this period, he was reading books about magic, some strange ideas, pessimism, tragedies, depression and polarization, noting that the minister’s son was bullied in his childhood.
This came days after the minister herself revealed that her family was in distress, in reference to her son’s accusation of murder.
The 26-year-old, who was residing in Irvine, was charged with murder for the murder of his two co-workers, while the US Supreme Court set the next June 17 session for his trial, according to US media.
The court in Orange County, California, will consider the charges against Rami, who was working in a large wealth management company owned by a businesswoman of Egyptian origin, after he was accused of committing the crime inside his residence.

It is noteworthy that the events of the case date back to April 19, when the young man was accused of stabbing one of his co-workers with a knife several times in their apartment in which they reside.
While one of the building’s guards revealed that he saw the minister’s son on the roof of the apartment complex only hours before the murder was discovered, and he was seen on the same floor of the victim’s apartment on the morning of the crime.
