Jaden Hardy’s Heroic Comeback Leads Dallas Mavericks to Victory in Summer League 2023

It was not the most exciting poster of the evening, but the match between Philadelphia and Dallas gave rise to a very nice scenario. Led by 15 points at the start of the fourth quarter, the Mavericks made a huge comeback behind a Jaden Hardy (22 points) on fire to finally win.

The Mavs took a little (a long time) to get into their second game of this Summer League 2023. Between an uninspired Jaden Hardy offensively and a mistreated Derek Lively in defense, Dallas was clearly out of the game for much of the game. Meanwhile, the Sixers were shooting 3-pointers like pearls and their leaders seemed to do pretty much what they wanted on the field. Behind DJ Steward (24 points), Terquavion Smith (18 points) and Javonte Smart (15 points), Philly quietly took a fifteen-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter. We were heading for a good garbage time as we like them, before Jaden Hardy sounded the revolt.

Author of a 0/6 shooting in the first half, the Dallas sophomore completely missed his match before waking up in the middle of the third quarter and going up in the towers. While her team seemed to be waiting for a savior to pull her out of the ordeal she was going through, Hardy donned his superhero cape and played the superstar for the final 10 minutes of the game. With drives, layups, 3-point shots, but especially free throws, the back of the Mavs led the comeback of his team in the last quarter, well helped by the harvest in the rebound of con teammate Dereck Lively.

On the other side, the Sixers completely collapsed in the face of this takeover by young Hardy. Caught on the scoreboard 4 minutes from the end, they never knew how to regain the lead, the fault of a missing shooting success. End result, a 111-103 victory for the Mavs, who would never have believed they had won a quarter of an hour earlier. But the youth of Dallas, embodied by Jaden Hardy (24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists) and rookies Dereck Lively (8 points, 11 rebounds including 4 offensive) and Olivier-Maxence Prospoer (10 points, 7 rebounds), do not s never admitted defeat and achieved one of the most beautiful comebacks of this Summer League 2023. It commands respect.

Full game for Hardy despite waste: 24 points at 5/17 shooting, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
He went for his points on the line, the big positive 12/13.

Eagerly awaited by the Mavericks coaching staff, Jaden Hardy has finally shone. The nugget took a while to get going, but demonstrated its full potential and led its team to a great comeback. The icing on the cake, it gave Dallas its first victory in the Summer League… since 2021!
